You know, everyone, Christian and non Christians at one time or another focus on the apocalypse. Movies, books, articles, prophecies, psychic predictions, Nostradamus, the Mayan calendar, focus on it. There has been many a movie based on the world’s end. The Bible talks about it in Revelations and various other scriptures.

But can anyone really predict it? Will it happen at the end of 2012 as some like to predict according to the Mayan calendar. But researching it, apparently there is nothing written about it in the Mayan hieroglyphic writings. So, what causes people to focus on the end of the world? Is it because of our economy? So many are struggling to make ends meet. Prices are sky rocketing. In some places, housing is becoming more unaffordable by the day. Times are tough, and it’s common for humanity to blame higher, unseen powers.

What do I think, personally? Whatever is happening in our world is man’s doing. It has nothing to do with prophecies, predictions, etc. The world is millions of years old and I believe it will continue to be around for a very long time. There will be catastrophes, yes. Possibly, although I hope not, more wars, maybe even another third world war. And who knows, one day we may experience an alien invasion. I don’t think anything is impossible. Look at Jules Verne, Twenty-Thousand Leagues under the Sea. I doubt anyone in their right mind believed when he wrote his books that travel beneath the sea would ever be possible. His novel Paris in the Twentieth Century, talks about a young man who lives in a world of glass skyscrapers, high-speed trains, gas-powered automobiles, etc. From the Earth to the Moon, to name just a few of his books. Did I ever imagine as a child that man would set foot on the moon?

It’s interesting that many of the things he wrote about have come to fruition. So who knows what the future holds in store for us all. I’d love to be able to come back in a hundred years or so. Right now, I just look at how everything has changed from when I was a child. And maybe someone will really invent time-travel. Wouldn’t that be something?
